The White Plains Reentry Initiative is a public safety and social strategy focusing on subjects leaving the Westchester County Penitentiary to assist them in preparing to reenter the White Plains community and to develop an ongoing support system afterwards that will reduce the likelihood of their reoffending and increase the probability of them becoming productive members of the community.
The Explorer's Program is a collaboration of the White Plains Department of Public Safety - Police and Fire Bureaus and the White Plains Youth Bureau. The Explorer program is affiliated with Boy Scouts of America and is opened to young men and women.The participants are under the supervision of Police Officers, Fire Fighters and Youth Bureau Aides. The Explorer program emphasizes five areas of juvenile development: Career Opportunities, Life Skills, Character Education, Citizenship, and Leadership Experience.
The goal of the Safe Housing Task Force is to ensure safe housing for all city residents and to properly address quality of life issues. The Safe Housing Task Force is composed of representatives from Fire Prevention, the Building Department and Police Bureau.
